Dear Church Family,
We have been enjoying studying the book of Acts together on Sundays. God has been blessing with folks that have been making decisions for Christ, spiritual growth in our lives, and a great opportunity to worship the Lord. We find the church and the gospel expanding to the ends of the earth. In chapters 8-12 we see the expanding church leaving Jerusalem and going to the known world at that time. I encourage you to be faithful in these Bible studies and worship week by week, especially during the summer. It will be a highlight to get together and worship our Lord with our church family.
I want to make you aware of two very important summer dates that are important to our church family.
Youth Camp is July 3-7 at beautiful Lake Swan Camp. Jeremy Carlton who is the Youth Pastor at Anastasia Baptist Church in St. Augustine will be our guest speaker. Brother Mitchell and the Youth team have put together a great camp schedule that includes dynamic Bible Study and worship as well as a great time in building friendships and encouragement for all of our students. Camp is such an important event in the life of our teenagers. It is very important to me because I gave my life to Christ as a teenager at a summer youth camp. Please get your student signed up. You can do that by going to our website and finding the event at the bottom of the front page and registering online. Everybody who registers by June 12 with as little as $50 will get the special rate of $225. Please make this an important priority.
Vacation Bible School is July 18-22. This is going to be a great week for our kids. Coming out of all that has happened with Covid, this is the first time we have done a Monday through Friday VBS week in a while. It will be very, very special. I encourage the parents of all of our elementary age children to get signed up and invite friends that need the Lord, families that need to know about Jesus, to get their kids signed up. It will be a great week. The theme is Spark Studios. Our children always have a great time at Vacation Bible School!
I would like to welcome Justin Thomas to our staff as our Adult Life Group Director. He is going to do a fantastic job. Justin and Kayla and their sweet family and been very faithful in all facets of our work. Justin has always had a heart for ministry. He was on our staff as our Upward Recreation Director many years ago and now is able to be involved in ministry with adults through our Life Group ministry. He also has a real heart for our Men’s Ministry and our Missions Ministry. Please pray for him as he begins his work.
Justin is having an Adult Life Group Leadership Luncheon this Sunday following the morning service. This will be a brief but important time for our adult leadership to grab some lunch and to hear form Justin. I’m excited about being a part of it.
Our Summer Wednesday nights begin next Wednesday, June 8. Our young people are kicking this off with a huge Youth Nerf War. We will have our prayer meeting and Bible study at 4pm, family supper at 5pm, and activities for ages 3 all the way through high school from 6-7:30pm. Our International Ministry will also have Conversational English Training. Please make the effort to be here. The fellowship is wonderful and the encouragement for our families and folks is so healthy for our spiritual growth and encouragement.
We will have a Business Conference on Sunday morning, June 12 at 10:30am. At this meeting we will have a recommendation from our Committee on Committees to fill spots for this year’s committee assignments in the life of our church.
Father’s Day is June 19. I’m very excited about encouraging our men. I’m so thankful that we have a church with godly men who attempt to lead their families and love the Lord Jesus Christ. We will have a special gift for each of our men. We are giving away the book How God Makes Men by Patrick Morley. Every man college age and up will receive one of these books on Father’s Day.
Wow! How fast the year continues to go by! Please be in prayer as we enter into all the work that the Lord has for us. We are so thankful for recent baptisms. The Lord is at work in our midst.
It is a joy to be your Pastor.
