Dear Church Family,
I’m writing this note to you in late December and by the time it gets to you we will have moved into our new Educational Building. Can you believe it?! What a miracle we have experienced as a church family. The vision, the planning, the fundraising, and the building process have all been miraculous. God’s hand is on this precious fellowship of believers!
Now comes the challenge to step out in faith and allow God to use this great tool to reach and disciple even more for His glory. We are in the building with no room to begin new classes. Every room is assigned. As you know, Sunday School is the outreach arm of the church and we must have the ability to begin new classes. In the past year we have started two new groups – a men’s class and a young ladies’ class, and both are growing and have great potential. Our entire Sunday School of current classes are led by wonderful teachers and we are thankful for their vision and leadership. If we are to broaden our base we must begin classes. This will necessitate the beginning of a new Sunday School hour. Now, as you know, we started a second Sunday School about 4 years ago and many of you helped us begin this exciting venture. But we learned something: 8:15am meets the needs for a limited number of adults but doesn’t attract folks with young children. We started with a full Sunday School at 8:15 but quickly realized that it was taxing the families who volunteered to meet earlier and so we moved them back into our regular Sunday School. Right now, two of our adult classes meet at 8:15am and they love it! Thank the Lord for the Harris and Weldon classes.
The new Sunday School hour needs to be at 9:30am. This would mean that Sunday School classes would be meeting when we are worshipping in the Main Auditorium. In order for those in the new Sunday School to worship, we must pray about beginning an 11am worship service to come alongside our existing Sunday School. Ideally, it would be great if some in our current Sunday School would move from the 11am time to the 9:30am time. You would still be coming to church and leaving at the same time. What this does for us is give us not just 16 new classrooms, but 32 new classrooms for future growth. Please pray with me about us starting this around Easter time in the spring.
On January 13, we will have our “Official” Dedication day for our new building. The church family needs a formal time when we call on the Lord for His mighty hand to infuse this building for His glory. The Christmas holidays necessitate a January dedication day and give us a wonderful opportunity to face the exciting challenges of a new year! Don’t miss the follow up picture!
Pray for our College Ministry which is taking their largest group ever to the Passion Conference in Atlanta. Our group will join more than 50,000 other college students from around the country in praising Jesus and hearing His voice for their lives. May Christ shake the Georgia Dome for the nations!
It is truly a joy to be your Pastor! Praying that 2013 will be our greatest year ever in reaching new people for Jesus.
God bless you,
