December is one of my favorite months of the year! We have some very special Sunday’s planned for the church family, as we celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. You will want to mark these dates on your personal calendar to make sure you don’t miss any of the special times.
December 8 is our children’s Christmas musical presentation. Our children’s choirs are growing! We have some of the finest workers that I know of anywhere who work with our kids in children’s choir. Don’t miss these precious ones sharing Christmas music with the church family.
The Christmas Dinner theater is scheduled for December 15 at 6 PM. “The Light of Christmas” is the title of this special event. Truly Jesus Christ is the light of Christmas! Our dinner theater is a unique event, combining a wonderful meal and a special musical presentation. The Lord has uniquely blessed this event was spiritual impact in years past. I encourage you to buy tickets for friends who need Christ.
The Smokey Mountain Christmas presentation by the Privette family is scheduled for December 22 at 6 PM. This is always a highlight of the year as we watch our talented Privettes share their Christmas music with us.
December 24 is the beautiful Christmas Eve service. We will celebrate on the eve of the birth of our Savior as we gather with the church family. Let me encourage you to bring all of your visiting family to the special one hour Christmas service. We will have special music, Scripture reading, and the beautiful candlelight observance of the Lord’s Supper.
I want to encourage you to be generous in your giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Our church has always given sacrificially to this special offering. The International Mission Board of The Southern Baptist Convention uses this offering solely for the purpose of overseas work.
Please also be in prayer for our First Mortgage Debt Elimination Committee. They have been working hard to bring a recommendation to the church family concerning our current first mortgage debt. As you know we no longer have any indebtedness on our brand-new educational building. This was the design from the beginning. Now we turn our attention to our first mortgage debt that is now over 10 years old. What a blessing it will be when this debt is paid. There are so many ministries that will be opened up for our church family when these dollars are released for the work of the Lord.
I encourage you to give sacrificially toward our budget in December. We are needing to make up a $15,000 deficit in this last month toward our budget giving. Gifts you desire to be reported in 2013 need to be in the office by December 31. If the Lord has prospered you and you can make a sacrificial gift towards our budget expenses, it will help us tremendously as we close out this fiscal year.
Kelly and I and our family extend to you a joyous “Merry Christmas” to you and your family. May we share the glorious news that Christ is born to those who need to know that God loves them and desires to know them.
It is a joy to be your pastor!
