Summer Nights Are Underway!

Dear Church Family,

I’m writing this article after one wonderful baptism service! We were able to baptize 8 precious believers as a part of the beach baptism service at Crescent Beach! The fellowship was great and the testimony of these church members was amazing!

Sunday nights are family nights at North Central! We call it Summer Nights! We will have a movie showing this Sunday evening beginning at 5:30pm. Woodlawn is a movie about how a football team and community that was divided came together because of Jesus Christ! It is a true story that will inspire and challenge you! Free popcorn and coke await you as you enjoy the movie. We will have a special movie in Room 112 for the children that are in the 5th grade or younger, so bring the whole family!

We also have an amazing Summer Wednesday night ministry that will take place all throughout the Summer for our elementary children.  It’s called Journey to Mars. The kids are involved in track times, with a different special activity that they will enjoy each week, in addition to the exciting Scripture study that is built into the time our leaders will have with the kids. Our youth will be busy as well ministering and worshipping together.

Parents of our youth—imagine having your students encouraged spiritually by these 7 (seven) people: three experienced IMB missionaries; one disciple maker who has personally developed many to take the gospel to the ends of the earth; one that has over 15 years of youth ministry experience; and a young couple that has made impacting youth their life’s vocation. Well these are just a few (not all) of the counselors that will be pouring into your students at youth camp, June 5-8 at beautiful Lake Swan Camp. These leaders are burdened to reinforce what you want for your youth—to challenge them to have a personal walk with Jesus. Our students don’t need religion; they need a relationship with Christ! Your youth camp team will challenge your students to “anchor” their live to Jesus! That Anchor holds!

We honor our graduating seniors this Sunday in our Cap and Gown Service. I look forward to this service every year. What an accomplishment it is when a student graduates, and we want them to know how proud we are of them.

Make sure you are here on Father’s Day to hear Rev. Billy Young! I’m excited about what Bro. Billy will share with us. Billy is the Next Generation Catalyst for our Florida Baptist State Convention. He is the staff member at our convention responsible for the preschool, children, youth and collegiate ministries. It will not be a first for Billy to come to Gainesville. He was a backup quarterback behind Danny Wuerffel at the University of Florida in the 1990’s. After graduation from UF, Bro. Young eventually felt the Lord leading him to surrender to vocational ministry and he has distinguished himself as a man with a heart for the next generation. Don’t miss his message on Father’s Day, June 18th.

I believe we could have our most effective Vacation Bible School ever! We need every North Central member to be involved in some way for VBS. Why don’t you call Allison Harris here at church or email her at to let her know that you are available to help with some important aspect of VBS.

What a joy to see God’s hand at work in our precious fellowship. Let’s continue to be faithful in getting out the gospel message to our community. Each of us has to take part and do our part!

God Bless You,

Pastor Calvin
