We are thrilled with the beginning of a new Sunday school year this fall. We want to take this opportunity also to welcome all of our college students back to the University of Florida and Sante Fe College. These students are a blessing. We look forward to touching their lives and we rejoice in the excitement and blessing they bring into the life of our church.
Wednesday nights are as exciting as they have ever been. Mrs. Ann and Mr. Ben have been preparing their world famous Wednesday dinners and our Awana Ministry is up and running with full steam. Dave Wright does a great job as our Awana commander. Our youth activities are exciting and Christ exalting. Many of our folks are participating in Conversational English training for internationals. Why not get involved in this significant ministry that is literally touching the world? All of these ministry activities can be joined on any Wednesday.
We have some exciting plans for the fall. We have just completed our NCBC-101 series that deals with what it means to be a member at North Central. We will begin a class on Sunday afternoons at 5:00 for all new members in the weeks ahead. New members, be on the lookout for these classes which will begin soon.
In September we’re going to ordain new deacons. We’re thankful for godly men that the Lord has raised up to assist the church in carrying out its ministry. These are men of great character. I appreciate their love for the Lord and their love for North Central.
In October we want to welcome Mr. Bob Tebow who will be preaching for us on UF’s Homecoming weekend, October 26th. As you know, Bob is the father of Heisman Trophy winner and Gator Quarterback Tim Tebow. This would be a great opportunity for you to invite a lost friend who needs Jesus. Bob is a powerful preacher who will share the gospel with passion and humility. He has been a blessing to me and my family through the years.
In November we will move into a stewardship emphasis as we prepare for the 2009 budget year. This will climax with a Banquet Celebration on November 23rd during our evening worship service time. I’m praying that the Lord would raise up an army of new tithers at North Central.
We are still in the process of paying off the children’s modular. We only lack approximately $25,000. I want to ask you to prayerfully consider a sacrificial gift to make the retirement of this debt possible. This will propel us forward in a huge way as we think about the future.
Kelly and I have, after much prayer, settled in on a new home. We are excited to finally have a place that we can call home. We look forward to serving the Lord Jesus along side you here at North Central Baptist Church. This is a wonderful place, made up of wonderful people, who serve a wonderful God, and share a wonderful Gospel. What a privilege!
