Hello North Central, Meghan Williams here!
Last week Pastor Calvin announced that I will be the new missions resident, and this week I am excited to bring you the first info blast! A little bit about me: I have been a member of North Central for almost five years, and currently, in addition to serving at North Central, also serve as a ministry partner at the UF and Santa Fe BCM. I have the joy of ministering at Santa Fe College and helping to raise up disciple-making laborers for Jesus there. I am so excited for this new opportunity to share with you the ways NCBC is on mission locally, nationally, and globally!
Today I would like to highlight our very own Stephen and Valerie Mohler, North Central’s Campus Missionaries! They both joined North Central in their freshman year. While in college, God brought them together and gave them a vision for reaching the ends of the earth through the future leaders attending UF. They now serve at the University of Florida, in partnership with the Baptist Collegiate Ministry, working to develop disciple-making laborers here in Gainesville that will be mobilized throughout the city, state, nation, and world. They do this by strategically targeting pockets of campus, such as dorms or academic colleges, and reaching those students for Christ, then equipping and mobilizing those students to do the same!
A recent example of this in action involves a student named Ned*. Ned is a sophomore who lives in one of the dorms where several BCM students reside. He grew up with an intellectual knowledge of God, but never understood having a relationship with Christ. Ned ended up sharing a room this year with a freshman, and this freshman got connected to the BCM and began being discipled by one of the upperclassman guys living on his floor. Ned engaged in several conversations about what it means to follow God, and he got to witness this through the life of his roommate and floor-mates. Recently, Ned decided that he wanted to follow Jesus and was led to Christ by his freshman roommate and the upperclassman discipling him. Praise the Lord!
This is just one story out of the many ways that God is using our church, through Stephen and Valerie, to impact this city, nation, and world for Christ. If you would like to learn more about what the Mohlers are doing, or send them words of encouragement and prayers, email them at email@example.com.
Here are some specific ways you can be praying for the Mohlers and their ministry:
— Pray that God would open doors for them to have Gospel conversations! (Colossians 4:3)
— Pray for laborers to be raised up among the student leaders (Matthew 9:36-38)
— Pray for the campuses to humble themselves and seek repentance and salvation (2 Chronicles 7:14)
— Pray for them as they seek to shepherd and mobilize students during this turbulent time!
I hope you all are as encouraged by this work as I am! If you have any questions about missions at NorthCentral, or about me personally, feel free to shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Until Next week!
